Practise examination.

What do you learn from Ben Leach’s article about the issues and concerns regarding the building of wind farms?
I learned from Ben Leach’s article is that wind turbines can ruin the view for everyone and why they don’t want turbines and also how it can cause issues. “Arthur Boyt, the chairman of the Stop Turbines in North Cornwall campaign group, said: “This area of
Cornwall is famous for the scenery and the views. It is a wild and beautiful area of countryside. The wind
farm would violate what is a very tranquil, distinct and beautiful landscape, and reduce it to insignificance
behind a barrage of rotating turbines.” This quote here is a chairman of the “Stop Turbines in North Cornwall campaign” saying what citizens are thinking. How Cornwall has the best scenery views and how the turbines would spoil it. Also the fact that he’s the chairman of a stop turbines campaign itself shows how he doesn’t want the turbines and citizens are probably supporting his campaign.
“Experts have said the turbines will be visible from much of Bodmin Moor and will have a huge impact on an “iconic area of landscape”.” Right here is another example on how the turbines can be a problem. Experts themselves point out how the turbines will be visible from a distance and how it would have “a huge impact on an iconic are of landscape”
“Environmentalists have called for a change in the planning system, and say the current arrangement has led to a “free-for-all” among wind farm developers.” Wind turbines are already causing issues here. Environmentalist changing the planning system with the arrangement being led to a free for all among wind farm developers. I can imagine this causing feuds between the Environmentalists.

Notes

With folded arms. This poor right hand of mine
Is left to tyrannize upon my breast,
Who, when my heart, all mad with misery,
Beats in this hollow prison of my flesh,
Then thus I thump it down.

He wants to stop the love he has for Lavinia because it’s mentally and emotionally hurting him

Thou map of woe, that thus dost talk in signs!
When thy poor heart beats with outrageous beating,
Thou canst not strike it thus to make it still.
Wound it with sighing, girl, kill it with groans;
Or get some little knife between thy teeth,
And just against thy heart make thou a hole,
That all the tears that thy poor eyes let fall
May run into that sink, and soaking in,
Drown the lamenting fool in sea-salt tears.

Titus expressing his pain to Lavinia

After the death of the Emperor of Rome, his two sons, Saturninus and Bassianus, ask the masses to determine who should succeed to the throne. The first invokes his natural rights as the first-born son, the second calls upon his virtue and graciousness. They are silenced by the Tribune of the People, Marcus Andronicus, who announces that the people of Rome have elected to the throne Titus Andronicus, a great general who has spent the last ten years and lost twenty-one sons vanquishing Rome ‘s enemies. Titus enters to great fanfare, trailed by four living sons and two in coffins; he brings with him the captives Tamora, Queen of the Goths, her three sons, and Aaron the Moore. Despite a desperate plea from Tamora, Titus orders, following Roman custom, that Tamora’s oldest son be ritually sacrificed in exchange for Titus’s own dead offspring. Marcus offers Titus the scepter of Rome on behalf of the people, but Titus refuses it on account of his age. Instead, he states that Saturninus should be emperor because he is the eldest son; Saturninus returns the favor by taking Lavinia as his empress. Bassianus revolts against this, claiming that Lavinia is betrothed to him. He spirits her away, with the aid of Lavinia’s remaining brothers Lucius, Mutius, Quintus, and Martius. When Mutius intercedes with Titus on behalf of his fleeing sister, Titus strikes him down and kills him. It is only after his other sons plead with him that Titus even allows Mutius to be interred in the family tomb.

Publicly humiliated by the loss of Lavinia, Saturninus announces that he will instead take Tamora as empress. The new empress slyly advises him to accept the apologies of Titus and his sons, secretly promising Saturninus that she will help him find another day to exact revenge on the Andronici. The new emperor closes Act 1 by declaring it a love-day and inviting everyone to the court for a feast. Titus offers to organize a hunt for him the next day, and Saturninus accepts.

Titus andronicus

Titus andronicus Wikipedia page criticism section.Titus andronicous what was her view of revenge at the time? The common view if revenge at that was just simply revenge. Revenge for having someone you know killed. Revenge for someone doing something that angers or almost destroy you emotionally.
Themes in titus andronicus Wikipedia page revenge section: shake spears play titus andronicus was mainly about revenge. The main hero seeking revenge and dying during the act of it. With that said it seems that revenge was a big/common act back in those days with society being out of control acting crimes that are rare today. Now people back then must of though of revenge as a trend since almost everyone back then done the revenge in what they’re doing it for.
Uk yahoo answer to the question why was revenge important in the Elizabethan times: after reading an answer to a Shakespeare fan it looks as if revenge back in those days are similar to revenge today. The only difference in those days and today revenge today is still around. People still want it people don’t care and people still do it. It’s just back in that era revenge was everywhere. People back then made revenge as a necessary action in almost any situation that involves people crossing you.

Why was Titus Andronicus so violent? Titus Andronicus was probably so violent to give us that realistic view to violence to make the scenes and the story more affective for us viewers. Source from this page helped me figure that out “There’s so much revenge-fuelled violence in the play that it becomes ridiculous, and at times its grisliness has a comical effect. For some, this suggests that Shakespeare is mocking the genre of the revenge tragedy that was so popular in his time. For others, the play’s violence is indicative of a young, inexperienced playwright setting out to emulate Seneca’s dramas.” – Shmoop.com

Theme study

So far with the novels I’ve read the only themes I noticed were living in a combination of happiness and depression. How people can live with their happy moments while eventually or at the same time depressing events occur. In the summer when I read more and watch a couple of movies the theme may alternate or even change as only so far I read two books. The first one being the boy in the striped pyjamas about a boy named Bruno who’s family moves out of town because his father got a new job as a ss officer. Bruno having to move with his family made him a very bored child since he now has no friends, having trouble making new ones. But Bruno being adventurous he travels in the woods to explore and discovers a boy in striped pyjamas sitting behind a fence and they start a strong friendship together. This is where the theme comes into play, they have such a happy time together being friends but they can’t play together like normal boys because of that fence so Bruno gets a pair of styled pyjamas and goes where Bruno would be in that camp. Bruno and his friend Shmuel ends up in a gas chamber and both die. This is where the father of Bruno as the officer who is part of controlling the gas chambers feels depressed how his son died in a place the father would have control over.
The next book I read is its kind of a funny story. The main theme of this one is about peer pressure and being yourself but those two links up with the themes I’m focused on. What this story is about is a 16 year old teenager named Craig who suffers with depression and ends up in a psychiatric hospital. The depression part of my theme is quite obvious here. A boy who suffers from depression quite bad but this is where the happiness comes. As he is suffering with depression in the hospital he ends up in for a few days he makes friends who suffers familiar problems. He gets to know them, he understands them and they understand him, they don’t pressure him into doing things he don’t want and he ends up with a girlfriend who is in the same hospital as him. There was a few problems in the hospital but at the same time Craig learned a lot and had fun with the new friends he made.
Today i will be adding a movie. The movie being Titanic because it easily fits in with my theme. A story about a young man named Jack winning tickets to the Titanic and meets a girl named Rose. They end up having great times together falling in love with each other so they’re happy right? As their happiness continues on the Titanic hits an iceberg causing the ship to sink which was a dramatic event since it’s based on a true story. After the disaster Jack and Rose are together freezing whilst floating on the water. As they were so happy together the depressing part comes into play as the Titanic sinks killing many people and Jack the one who was Rose’s new soul mate dies.
iv’e read a non fiction poem which grabbed my attention as it fits well with my theme. The poem itself is called “Negativity” it’s about the past in the author’s life how he had such a dark time being treated with betrayal, lies and heartbreaks by ones he was close with. Now all of that bit fits in with the depression part of my theme. The happiness comes in when he realizes all the mistakes he made with the wrong people and lives happily without people like that. The author is still living a good life today and he’s happy.
Iv’e read another poem called “Bring the fight back” the poem is about the authors mother becoming ill again. They was all happy how she survived the first big illness yet in the poem there was no word on what kind of illness but we could imagine it being life threatening. So as the family is happy the mother gets that same illness again. Went from good to bad just basically what links with my theme. So the author who is the son of the mother in the poem shows faith that she will actually survive this illness and the whole family feels she’ll survive again. By the looks it goes from good to bad to back to good if she survives of course.
A few months ago i watched a film which fits in with my theme. That film is called catch me if you can. Based on a novel also a true story about a teen named Frank Abagnale Jr. who runs away after finding out about his parents divorce. After the run away he gets rich by getting money from banks with fake checks he made, gets all kind of careers by lying and changing identity and making fake degrees for that career. Frank goes from depressed (because of his parents divorcement) to the most genius and richest criminal on earth so of course hes all happy with all the money, the girls and the careers. But then after years of finding him the FBI finally catches him giving him long years in prison which obviously is depressing for him. But everything turns out great for Frank since the FBI let him out early to give him a job that the FBI needs. Which is checking fake checks because he’s a master on that and can help the FBI dealing with frauds. So frank had a mixture of happy and depressing events in his life but all is good for him now.

Analysing an advert

With the advert I’m analysing I see that the main intention is about education. That’s not all of it though, what the ad is trying to tell us is can we trust the education system itself. The way that this ad is layout is in a way that makes the message and or what we need to see is clear. The top of the ad says “we all need an education?” Under that is a book with two open pages. The top of the first page says “we live to learn.” with a bunch of “blahs” in the est of the page and a bit more on the second page as on the bottom of the second page it says “the less you know the harder it is.” Those two pages are obviously pointing out that education is really important, we need it and we could struggle without it. So after reading those important points you’ll then see that at the bottom it says “the education system – do you trust it?” It ask us a question that makes us relise can we actually trust the education system? This ad really makes us think about it but what could we do to fix the education system if there is a problem after all? Nothing about it. As this ad is aimed for people who is seeking an education or currently having an education we’ll just have to go with it because most of us having an education are kids, teenagers and young adults. If there was some sort of conspiracy behind education no one would listen to us because we’re just kids to the ones who control it.

The thing that should not be.

Midnight, the bell tolls waking me up like it usually do. The bells are almost like my alarm clock always making sure I wake at my usual time. I get out of my bed walking across the room looking beyond the open door to a dark hallway with stairs. I walk down the stairs walking through another open door to the kitchen. Thirsty I was opening the fridge to drink the red liquid to keep me ready for the night which is so cold barely anyone goes out. Approaching beside the door putting on what I need to wear; a long black leather coat, black cowboy hat, black boots and sunglasses so no one sees what I really am. Leaving the door in no hurry, my time to handle injustices shall be soon cleaning up New York City with punishments to eliminate the evil for good.
I walk down the main stairs from my apartment and already an injustice happens. Big man stopping me threatening me with a sharp weapon thinking to get the better of me, “that’s cute” I say out loud angering the man. He attempts to attack me but I counter him and use my teeth to get into his neck making him a pale corpse with no draw of blood. Carry on with my way out of the apartment building ready to do what I do best. Walking in the middle of the street seeking for the unwanted to eliminate them and none is in sight, only a few innocents walk by. In progress of waiting I hear a bang, motor sounds coming from the corner of the block.
Turns out it’s a car with a gangster looking man driving with a passenger that seems to be his friend holding a shotgun charging at me. Thinking fast of what to do I vanish into the air without the car hitting me confusing the two in the car. “What da hell!?” the driver said as I can still hear them. “Drive drive drive!” The other cried in great fear. The two starts to drive but I appear on top of the car as it’s in accelerating speed not making a sound so they won’t be alerted about the next move I make. I simply jump to the side of the car ripping the tire apart in very short time. After doing that I stood on the road to watch the car eventually kill the two in there which it did within a matter of seconds crashing into a building with great impact. Since I eliminated 3 tonight I’ll call it a night, you can’t clean the streets of New York in one night, it’s a long term business to handle and it could take hundreds of years to do. I go back home to take a break from justice for 24 hours.
Walk in the building, up the stairs next to that dead man who tried to attack me earlier, into my apartment I go to sit on the couch in the living room. Turning the TV on to keep me entertained as I have to stay up until daylight to sleep so I can wake up for my nightly routine next midnight. After hours and hours of my favorite show everybody loves Raymond the sun rises meaning I should sleep now. I walk up the stairs into my dark room falling asleep onto my bed which is so comfy I could sleep through the whole day. Midnight strikes again, preparing what I do again, people don’t know who or what I am. To them I’m either a myth or a real monster. I’m just the thing that should not be.

1.Out of the world

2. Hello. I see you are reading this, ready to hear my story? I hope so, you’ll be amazed. 3. First day of resurrection standing on a long field with a tree beside me I see a blue car speeding on a smooth road. 4. Luckily the man in the car didn’t see me, I didn’t want anyone noticing me just yet. 5. Before anyone else drives by I should hide in the field and look for somewhere to rest. 6. I walked into the field seeing nothing but clear land whilst it rained from grey clouds which looked prepared to give out lightning. 7. Ironically as I think that I start to hear monstrous sounds coming from the sky seeing lightning coming towards me. 8. I am still breathing. How is this possible. I just survived lighting striking me.

Dystopian first page

Living. That’s a hard thing to do in this type of world now. Knowing what it was like in the past when we had cars, the sun was out with no overly tall buildings blocking that sunlight everyday. Now on these days we get no sunlight, can’t meet new people because no one is ever on the streets or anywhere else. They’d rather be home to hide from the depressing look of our world or they’re just too busy in their flying cars to work or to buy food. My only goal in life is to change our world, for the better, for the best. So I’m at home (which is in a flat nearly as big as the Empire State Building) sitting on the sofa with a nice space. Funny enough the inside of everybody’s home seems to be the only nice looking thing in this world. As I just sit on the sofa I look at the window with a view that would of been great if there wasn’t a wide building blocking it. The way I fix that problem is by having holograms installed on my windows and having a custom made view. Usually I like to make it nice and sunny with a view monuments that London use to have before it was all destroyed. So I was just enjoying my view then I hear a knock on my door, I decide to ignore it because I really wanted to rest. Suddenly the knocking became louder and more aggressive by each knock. I still ignore it trying to wait it out but then there was shouting telling me to open the door or we’ll knock it down. I start to panic on the sofa not sure what to do. *bang* *bang* *bang* is all I hear on my door, so scared I can’t move. The door burst open. Evil standing there ready to attack staring me in the eye.
